A devoted educator, mentor, and advocate for student athletes, Coach Monmonier leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service, leadership, and heart. His passing marks the end of an era for the Seahawk family and for the broader athletic community across South Carolina.

Coach Monmonier served Hilton Head Island High School for more than two decades, beginning his tenure as a Special Education teacher and lacrosse coach. From the moment he joined the Seahawk staff, Joe brought with him a deep sense of purpose and a tireless work ethic. 

He had a natural ability to connect with students and athletes from all backgrounds, offering not just instruction but genuine encouragement, tough love, and unwavering support. His athletes respected him not only for his knowledge of the game but for his kindness, fairness, and belief in their potential.
